5 Luxury Performance Convertibles from 2018 worth reminiscing

This explains the popularity of the segment and the importance for luxury car makers to continue innovating in order to match today’s customer expectations. Innovation in terms of materials and technology has helped modernize convertibles in terms of weight and performance characteristics to a great extent. 5. Ferrari Portofino
The Ferrari Portofino launched not too long ago, succeeds the California as a 2+2 GT Convertible. Performance figures include 600 PS of power and a 0-100 km/h time of just 3.5 seconds. Recently having received the “Red Dot” award for best design, we certainly cannot argue that this convertible has stunning proportions and is absolutely worthy of such recognition.
4. BMW 8-Series Convertible
Revealed late in 2018 as a variant to the officially launched BMW 8-Series Coupe, the 8-Series Cabriolet still retains the right character even with the top off. This convertible is offered with a soft-top roof that opens and closes at the touch of a button and for audiophiles an optional Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround audio.
3. McLaren 720S Spider
McLaren adds to its Super Series with the McLaren 720S Spider. Using a retractable hard top, this convertible has very little weight gain allowing for its performance to remain almost the same as its coupe version. 770 Nm of torque pushing this supercar to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds.
2. Bentley Continental GT Convertible
Combining some serious performance and luxury is the Bentley Continental GT Convertible. Packed with 900 Nm of torque, this open-top grand tourer reaches 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Adding to this is seven different fabric hood colours to choose from, including an authentic tweed finish for the first time.
1. Ferrari 488 Pista Spider
Unveiled during the world-famous Concours d’Elegance is the Ferrari 488 Pista Spider that naturally evolved from its coupe sibling. Being the 50th drop-top model from the Prancing Horse, this supercar packs a punch with 710 hp offered by its twin-turbo V8 engine. For those of you extremely interested in weight saving, optional single piece carbon fiber wheels are also available.
