A Scandinavian experience in Geneva: The Ultra Modern 2018 Volvo XC60 revealed
A famous saying suggests that “All good things come to those who wait”and this truly represents the launch of the new XC60 from Volvo, being introduced 9 years since its inception.
Heavily inspired by the present design philosophy used in models such as the XC90 and S90, Volvo is making its presence known within the mid-size luxury SUV segment with the all new XC60 expected to launch later this year.
Signature design cues include the wide grill, and the “Thor Hammer” sideways T-lighting headlights. Interior cabin resembles the XC90 to a large extent with plenty of customisable luxurious elements combined with technology to match. Unique technology includes Volvo’s direction towards autonomous driving with its “Pilot Assist” system which allows the vehicle to steer, brake and accelerate at speeds of upto 120 kmph. All of this, while ensuring Volvo doesn’t digress from being synonymous with safety in the automotive world showcasing various advanced collision avoidance technology.
Anticipated drivetrain options is the well known D4, D5 diesel engines, the T5 petrol as well as the T8 petrol-electric hybrid unit. These will respectively be launched most likely with an 8-speed automatic transmission and we have yet to learn regarding the availability of 2WD vs 4WD amongst its variants.
Further details including an expected price tag will become more apparent once a launch date for India is confirmed, which is expected in the latter half of 2017/early 2018.
