- Exterior and interior updates, improved driver dynamics and a host of new features
- Introduced with the familiar 2.0L diesel engine followed by a 3.0 litre diesel
- Price starts at an aggressive INR 49.99 lakhs relative to the competition
BMW has just taken the wraps of its 3rd generation BMW X3 in India. Launched at a very competitive starting price of INR 49.99 lakhs, this 2018 version will certainly be a strong contender when it goes against the likes of the Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Volvo XC60 or Jaguar F-Pace.
The new BMW X3 is all new from an exterior standpoint. The headlamps and the grill have now been separated while the overall exterior appears more aggresive. This new design philosophy will set the X3 apart from its siblings like the X5 and the BMW 5-Series. It still sports the BMW Kidney grill, although the new X3 ‘s grill is a lot larger than the outgoing model.
Added strength now lies on the inside where the new infotainment system is compatible with intuitive gesture controls and new-age smartphone interfaces like Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. The new X3 also incorporates a full-colour heads-up display, digital instrumentation and ambient lighting as well. An increased wheelbase of 2.2 inches allows for additional seating in the comfort of the panoramic sunroof with added boot space as well.
The power plant offered initially on the X3 is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, twin-turbocharged diesel engine. Power delivery is 190PS and 400Nm of peak torque mated to an 8-speed Steptronic transmission sending power to all the four wheels.
With a starting price right in the ballpark of its competition and a host of new features, both inside and out the 2018 BMW X3 will appeal as a very capable on-road and off-road choice.
