Ferrari launches its beautiful Portofino convertible
Ferrari has officially launched the Portofino, its 2+2 GT convertible starting at INR 3.5 crore (ex-showroom, India). The Portofino is named after a quaint Italian village by the same name.
The Portofino is the successor to the Ferrari California T, which was a 2-seat convertible. The Portofino, however, has the option to seat two more individuals, although the two rear seats are preferable for short trips.
The car is powered by a 3.8 litre twin-turbo V8 engine that develops a maximum power of 600PS and peak torque of 760Nm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with figures to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds.
The Portofino is built on a new chassis that Ferrari claims is 35 percent stiffer than its predecessor. The overall weight is down 80kg and there’s also the big switch to an electro-mechanical steering from a hydraulic unit.
Recently having received the “Red Dot” award for best design, we certainly cannot argue that this convertible has stunning proportions and is absolutely worthy of such recognition.
