Land Rover has participated in the gruelling Dakar Rally for many years, thus showcasing their strength and off-road capability. In fact, in 1979 a Range Rover wins the inaugural Paris-Dakar rally (and again in 1981), cementing its status as a rugged and durable SUV of some serious motorsport pedigree.
