Audi RS Range
Sometimes referred to as “Halo” cars, RS is Audi's highest performance 'top-tier' trim level, positioned distinctly above the "S" ("Sport") specification level of Audi's regular model range. All "RS" cars pioneer some of Audi's latest and most advanced technology and engineering prowess.
The "RS" initials are taken from the German: RennSport — literally translated as "racing sport". Available for limited time and only in select markets, on a restricted model range, these "RS" (and "S" models) models are wholly designed, developed and produced in-house by Audi AG's high performance private subsidiary company, Audi Sport GmbH.
R8 Coupe V10 Plus
The Audi R8 is a mid-engine, 2-seater sports car, which uses Audi's trademark quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. The fundamental construction of the R8 is based on the Audi Space Frame, and uses an aluminium monocoque which is built using space frame principles.
The Audi R8 Coupe V10 Plus sharp design also offers sensational performance via its naturally aspirated V10 engine: with 610 hp, 330 km/h top speed and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. This makes it the fastest Audi production car in history and also the first to reach 330 km/h.
Audi’s virtual cockpit, MMI Navigation Plus with MMI Touch, and a Bang and Olufsen sound system are just some highlights once inside the sportscar.
Interestingly, the R8 does not rely on fully automated production techniques; rather prefers the art of craftsmanship and each one is hand-built.
