The BMW 3-Series Gran Limousine is here; INR 51.50 lakh
BMW Cars are known to be an enthusiasts preferred choice. Typically considered to handle better with enhanced driving dynamics, they usually make a case for themselves starting with the 3-Series as the benchmark and moving across the range from there.
While this works in many markets around the world, India makes a case for itself as a different market. With access to chauffeurs regardless of the type of car you own, Indians have been known to enjoy the benefits of sitting in the rear and being taken places.
Hence the case for even a Mercedes-Benz E-Class warranting a long wheel base variant in its segment.
Similarly, first in its segment now is a 3-Series Gran Limousine as it is called with 110 mm added to the standard 3-Series length. The result is a more spacious cabin with extended knee room for its rear passengers. Ideal for those that prefer to be chauffeured around in, rather than driving themselves around. The new sedan will be offered in Luxury Line (INR 51.50 to 52.50 lakh) and M Sport (INR 53.50 lakh) variants. Notably, the M Sport gets a sportier exterior and gloss black element highlights.
In terms of interior features, the main addition of a panoramic sunroof to the Luxury Line variants can be noted. This adds to a long list including ambient lighting, multi-zone climate control, an 8.8-inch touchscreen with BMW’s iDrive infotainment system, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The M Sport variant adds gesture control and heads up display.
Powering the 3-Series Gran Limousine is a 258hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine (330Li) and 190hp, 2.0-litre turbo-diesel unit (320Ld) from the standard 3 Series. Power is transferred using an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. 0-100 km/h is achieved in just 6.2sec for the petrol and 7.6sec for the diesel.
