An all new Kawasaki Ninja 650 launched
- Brand new trellis frame - weight reduction of 15 kgs compared with its predecessor
- ABS as standard
- Offers better mid range power
Kawasaki has just launched an all new version of its Ninja 650 in India, sporting a host of upgrades for better performance and rideability. The Kawasaki Ninja 650 will be available at a starting price of INR 5.69 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and Kawasaki has promised a naked version - the Z650.
Design inspiration is drawn heavily from the gorgeously larger Ninja ZX-10R. New KRT livery helps the motorcycle stand out while a new riding position offers more comfort without compromising on its sport bike like handling.
Power on the new Kawasaki Ninja 650 comes from the 649 cc parallel twin-cylinder engine. The motor is shared with the Z650 and churns out 67 bhp of power at 8000 rpm and 65.7 Nm of peak torque available at 6500 rpm. Paired to a 6-speed gearbox, bike now gets a slipper clutch as standard, while suspension duties are performed by conventional forks and a monoshock setup at the rear.
A new digital instrument display with shift light indicator as well as ABS as standard rounds up a host of new features for the Ninja 650. With the price increase from its predecessor and a host of new features, it looks to take on the competition from Honda’s CBR 650F and Hyosung’s GT650 head on.
