Mercedes-Benz launches the E-Class Long Wheelbase (LWB)

  • First time for the E-Class to be launched as a long wheelbase in India
  • Available in two trims : E200 (starting at INR 56.15 lakh ex-showroom Mumbai) and E350 d (starting at INR 69.47 lakh)
  • Several exclusive features specific to the new E-Class LWB

Mercedes-Benz India has just launched its 10th edition of the E-class with a first for India: A “made in India” Long Wheelbase (LWB) version. This clearly showcases the luxury brands support towards catering discerning Indian consumers.

Claiming class leading legroom(140 mm more than a standard E-Class), this is where the E-class intends to prove superior to its competition, namely the likes of BMW, Audi, Jaguar and Volvo.

Reflecting its all business demeanor, are the exclusive LWB features include reclining rear seats and soft cushion headrests, a 12.3-inch touchscreen display and a 13-speaker Burmester sound system. Other features include the COMAND system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, 64 ambient light colour options, panoramic sunroof and touch sensitive buttons for the steering wheel and three zone climate control. The top-end diesel model (E 350 d) also gets air suspension system and memory function for front and rear seats.

Two engines are available: a 2.0 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder good for 300Nm of torque and 184Ps and a 3.0 liter V6 providing a massive 620Nm of torque and 258Ps of power. Power is sent only to the rear wheels via a 9-speed G-Tronic transmission.

Safety features on tap include 7 airbags, adaptive assist, attention assist, ABS with ESP, EBD and automatic parking pilot with 360-degree camera.

Clearly for those appreciative of the comfort of being driven, the E-Class LWB seems to make a strong case for itself with its best selling model providing more legroom and plenty of new features at a marginally increased cost to its predecessor.
