1956 Aston Martin DBR1 sets a new record as the most expensive British car

  • Chassis number one, the first of only five that were built
  • Winner of the 1959 Nurburgring race that stretches for 1000 kms
  • Sold for US $22.5 millionRM Sotheby’s auction house just sold what is now the most expensive British car to-date. A 1956 Aston Martin DBR1 Chassis number one. It’s the first of just five DBR1 cars built by the Aston factory, and the only one to have ever been offered for public sale.

After seven minutes of fierce bidding, the final price of US $22.5 million was set remotely from a private collector via a phone in during the auction. This true collectors car is simply gorgeous, having been driven by a long list of famous racers. The lucky owner will certainly be happy with this purchase and we look forward to seeing it on display at special shows in the near future.
