Audi A3 facelift launched in India

  • New Modular grill and 3D rear tail lamps
  • Nifty technology updates
  • Marks the 10th anniversary of Audi Operations in India

Marking its 10th year in operations in India, Audi has just launched a facelifted Audi A3. The exterior design displays subtle updates with new headlights, LED DRLs, tail lamp cluster and a dual tip exhaust. Add to this new design alloy wheels presenting the A3 facelift with a very sport stance.

Audi has given the A3 nifty little features like a Phone Box that supports wireless charging and a rimless inside rear view mirror. The retractable screen on the dashboard is now only 11mm thick and the A3 also has a reverse camera now. Unfortunately it is lacking certain features such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Audi’s virtual cockpit and the convenience of a start/stop button.

Powered by a 1.4-litre TFSI petrol motor which is good for 148 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. A 7-Speed S-tronic Automatic transmission helps transfer this power to the front wheels. The diesel variant of the car has a 2.0-litre TDI motor underneath the hood that churns out 139 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. The diesel motor uses a 6-speed DSG gearbox to send power to the front wheels.

The petrol variant is priced at INR 30.5 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi) and the diesel variant of the car has been launched at INR 32.3 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). While the A3 maybe lacking in certain creature comforts one might expect from a premium entry level model, the facelift presents valid updates while Audi looks to present an alternative to its direct competitor, the Mercedes-Benz CLA.
