BMW X1 sDrive20d M Sport launched in India
BMW India has introduced a well equipped M Sport variant of the X1 sDrive 20d. The key distinction being the compact SUV being front wheel drive and hence uses ‘sDrive’ instead of the ‘xDrive’ (all wheel drive) in its nomenclature.
Mechanically, the new sDrive20d M Sport is powered by the same 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine developing 187 bhp of maximum power and 400Nm of peak torque. Power is sent through an 8-speed automatic transmission to the front wheels.
The M Sport styling package includes aerodynamic front bumper, side skirts, wheel arch trims, and a dark metallic rear diffuser. Also available are the 18-inch M Sport dual-spoke alloy wheels, twin chrome exhausts and M badges on the front fender.
Inside, the X1 sDrive M Sport gets sport front seats, M Sport steering with paddle shifters, switchable ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof and M Sport badges. It also gets a 6.5-inch central screen instead of the larger 8.8-inch unit available on the xDrive and also misses out on the head-up display.
Price for this well fitted X1 starts at INR 41.50 lakh (ex-showroom) and neatly slots itself between the base X1 and the xDrive M-Sport variant.
Luxury Motor Press thinks:
For those of you that primarily drive in urban environments, this new well equipped front wheel drive variant is the right choice. Should you still feel you do a bit more weekend off-roading, then the xDrive will be the more appropriate selection.
