The flagship saloon from the German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has just launched the facelifted S-Class in India. In preparation for new norms within the country and showcasing support towards the environment, this is the first “Made in India, for India” BS VI compliant model available.
The S-Class facelift will be made available in both petrol and diesel powertrains. The OM 656 engine used in the S 350 d is the most powerful passenger car diesel engine designed by Mercedes-Benz India; the inline-six cylinder motor delivers an output of 282 bhp and develops 600 Nm of peak torque. 0-100 kmph is achieved in just 6 seconds. There is also the S450 petrol variant. Thanks to twin turbocharging and intercooling, the V6 engine puts out 362 bhp and offers 500 Nm of peak torque. 0-100 kmph is dealt with in just 5.1 seconds and it comes with a top speed of 250 kmph.
The facelift model of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class features all-new bumpers with sportier lines and a wider grille at the front. The adaptive intelligent LED headlamps are also redesigned, providing the car with a new facade. The tail lamps also get new internals while the profile gets a refreshed look with new alloy wheels.
The S-Class interior gets a typically well appointed cabin with two new 12.3-inch high definition screens that make up the infotainment and the central command unit. Adding to the technology is the availability of Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The S-Class also gets wood options for interior trim and leather options for the seats and the side panels. The new S-Class even gets new seats with a new fragrance function along with the obvious cooled, heated and massaging options.
Safety has always been a hallmark from the German marque and this new facelift is no exception. It also comes with the latest generation of radar-based driving assistance systems that reduce the risk of accidents and enhance the protection of occupants as well as other road users. Additionally, Active Dist assist, Active Steering Assist, Active Braking Assist and Blind Spot detection are just some of the systems that help keep the S-Class setting new benchmarks in safety for its segment and the industry.
