  • The Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 is an all-new model based on the flagship GLS SUV
  • Both SUVs are powered by a 5.5-litre Bi-Turbo V8 engine under the hood
  • The SUVs will be sold via Mercedes' AMG Performance Centres pan India

Mercedes-Benz India has expanded its AMG line-up with two new performance SUVs - Mercedes-AMG G63 'Edition 463' and Mercedes-AMG GLS 63. The performance bred GLS 63 is priced at ₹ 1.57 crore while the G63 Edition 463 is priced at ₹ 2.17 crore (ex-showroom, Pune).

The iconic G63 receives an ‘Edition 463’ effectively representing an internal model code, rather than reflecting anything performance oriented. Clearly being an AMG model indicates performance and this SUV propels to 100 kmph in 5.4 seconds thanks to a power output from the monstrous 5.5-litre V8 engine producing 563 bhp at 5500 rpm and 760 Nm of peak torque at 5000 rpm.

Impressive off-road capabilities are possible thanks to three 100 percent differential locks, an off-road reduction gear and the Electronic Traction System 4ETS. The Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 463 gets a stainless-steel underride guard, AMG Sport strips on the side flanks, dark aluminium finished exterior protective strips, and new 21-inch 5-twin-spoke alloy wheels finished in matte black. The interior is spruced up in a single-tone black designo leather, twin-tone black and light brown leather seat upholstery and dual-tone finished centre console.

The AMG GLS 63 is essentially the performance variant of the standard GLS SUV. AMG Body styling, quad exhausts, LED Intelligent Light System with integrated LED DRLs and red painted brake calipers, a panoramic sunroof, ORVM logo projectors, and an Easy Pack tailgate which can be electrically opened or closed are just some of the signature features present in this full size SUV.

Thermotronic automatic climate control, memory package as well as a Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround system, an AMG steering wheel finished in Nappa leather, temperature controlled cup holder and multi-contour front seats with massage function round up an extremely well equipped GLS AMG.

Power for the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 comes from the same 5.5-litre V8 BiTurbo engine seen on the G63, however with slightly higher output at 577 bhp and 760 Nm of peak torque.
