2017 Triumph 1200 launched

Triumph India has just launched its adventure-tourer offering in India. Priced at INR 17 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 will be available in a single variant known as the XCx. Ideally, demand in India might exceed expectations leading to the availability of all six variants that are internationally available.

In terms of styling, the new Tiger 1200 presents subtle changes like the slightly different fairing design and metallised tank badge. Primary updated elements of the new XCx are the LED headlight and LED DRLs.

Replacing the semi-analogue instrument console is a compact 5.0-inch TFT screen. Other notable features on the bike include keyless ignition, an electronically adjustable windscreen and cruise control.

The 1.2 litre, triple-cylinder motor produces 141hp and 122Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and power is transmitted to the rear wheel via shaft drive. The 1200 XCx is also 5 kilograms lighter now. Electronic aids on the new Tiger 1200 XCx features traction control, cornering ABS and five riding modes – Off-Road Pro, Road, Rain, Off-Road and Sport.

The bike also comes with revised handlebar geometry that makes its seating position more upright. The adventure motorcycle market is getting popular with the XCx adding to the mix of off-roaders offered by BMW Motorrad and Ducati.
